System Overview

GB7CAM is a LINBPQ-based licensed packet radio node run by Ian Henry (G0LFT).


RF configuration Notes

  • Frequency: 144.950 MHz
  • Mode: AX.25 Packet
  • Antenna: 5m AGL
  • Power: ERP 14 dBW (25W)
  • Location: Harston Cambridge (Grid Squre: JO02AD)

Hardware

  • Tait 2000 Mk2: a modified commercial radio bought from Simon (G4WQG)
  • NinoTNC: an amazing little TNC bought from Chris (G1FEF)
  • Diamond X50: vertical 2m/70cm antenna
  • Raspbery Pi 4: picked up from the CDARC Bring and Buy for £20

Software

  • LinBPQ: The core software running Node, BBS, Mail Forwarding and Chat Services
  • FastAPI: Provides access to node information for the status page
  • nginx: Reverse proxy for https://node.gb7cam.org.uk and the API
  • Quarto: Used to create this site

Network

  • ARDC 44Net: 44Net makes publicly reachable networking available for experimentation and learning. Amateur radio operators and groups use it to run systems that are directly accessible from the Internet using stable public IP addresses.
  • Wireguard Tunnel: Setup through 44Net Connect
  • Public Routed Subnet: Assigned by 44Net Connect
  • AXUDP links to other packet nodes: visit my contact page and drop me a message with your MAP line if you run a node and want to peer
